Reflexology  Acupressure & Reiki by Vanessa

Total Relaxation, Healing, and Rejuvenation!  Holistic therapies that are proven to yield results!

    Reflexology, Acupressure, Reiki

    What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a unique massage technique that incorporates massage movements and pressure points on the feet, hands, and the lower part of the leg in order to facilitate and promote total body healing.   In my reflexology sessions, I have developed a unique technique that incorporates the use of hot stones and therapeutic reflexology.  Hot stones are water treated stones that are placed on specific parts of one's feet to promote relaxation and to help open up the energy pathways of the body.  Reflexology pressure points are treated with the heated stones to allow me to easily perform reflexology manipulation, access pressure points, and to promote maximum reflexology benefits. My reflexology spa caters to hand and feet reflexology.  I use a wide array of essential oils and aromatherapy to promote healing during the foot reflexology massage.  Reflexology treatment is homeostasis for the body. It detoxifies, improves circulation, calms the psyche, relieves pain, treats anxiety, and alleviates stress among many other benefits.  In my experience, reflexology has helped those with Plantar Fasciitis, Restless Leg Syndrome,  Sciatic Issues, and more.  Sessions are available without hot stones, essential oils, or aromatherapy for those with sensitivities. The sessions are extremely therapeutic nevertheless.  Each session run fro 1 hour to an 1 1/2 in length.  Check my menu for pricing.

    ACUPRESSURE

Acupressure is an ancient healing art using the fingers and other parts of the body to skillfully press key points, which stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities. When these trigger points are pressed, they release muscular tension, and promote circulation of blood, and the body's life force energy to aid healing. Acupuncture and acupressure use the same pressure points and meridians, but acupuncture employs needles, while acupressure uses gentle to firm pressure and integrates bodywork therapies, therapeutic touch, somatic work, healing imagery, energy psychology, and massage therapy techniques. Advantages of Using Acupressure include relieving pain, balancing the body, and maintaining good health. Acupressure's healing touch reduces tension, increases circulation, and enables the body to relax deeply. By relieving stress, acupressure therapy strengthens resistance to disease and promotes wellness.

As a Certified Jin Shin Acupressurist, I offer segments &/or sets that specifically target imbalances, pains & aches, back issues, headaches, stress & many other sources of disease.  Extremely effective, relaxing, & de-stressing.  Acupressure increases energy  which, in turn, increases healing.  A holistic approach to ailments without any side-effects.

    Reflexology, Acupressure, ReikiREIKI

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery. While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. Because Reiki comes from God, many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with the experience of their religion rather than having only an intellectual concept of it.  There are three levels of Reiki practitioners and attunements.  When all three are achieved, a certificate of mastery is given.  This means the practitioner is considered a "Master" and he or she is able to teach, attune, and practice the art of Reiki. As a certified Reiki Master, Teacher, and Practitioner, I can utilize Reiki is just about any of the services I provide or by itself as an hour session.  In addition, stone and crystal therapy can be used to clear, enhance, and empower Reiki in order to achieve balance and healing.  Different stones and crystals emit "vibrations & frequencies" which enhance healing.  Stones and crystals can be used to align and balance chakras and more. I can add stones and crystal therapy to any Reiki session at your request.  I offer Reiki classes for all levels as well as FREE distance healing.  Please subscribe your email down below and send a request for your distance healing.  Upon receipt, I will send you a confirmation message and begin the distance healing process.  All for FREE!

Reflexology: Addressing Pain and Putting Cancer Patients at Ease
    Jack Bleeker
    May 2010
With roots in ancient Egypt, China, and Japan, the art of reflexology is a healing and relaxation technique that has stood the test of time and is familiar to many today. Found on treatment menus in world-class spas and on the schedules of many hospital-based palliative care centers, reflexology is viewed by skeptics as just a foot massage, but those who have recognized the therapy’s benefits will loudly proclaim that it is much, much more. For patients with cancer, such as those battling malignant mesothelioma, reflexology is said to have numerous benefits. Used as a complementary therapy along with conventional treatments like chemotherapy and radiation, proponents of reflexology note that the treatment goes a long way in addressing such issues as pain, anxiety, nausea, and vomiting. Especially upon the mesothelioma prognosis, these individuals are in dire need of therapeutic relief from the side effects mentioned. So how does a foot rub help eliminate the unpleasant effects of cancer? Simply put, reflexology involves applying pressure to and stretching the hands and feet in order to trigger responses in other parts of the body. Experts theorize that the pressure sends a calming message from the peripheral nervous system to the central nervous system, where it signals the body to adjust its tension level, therefore creating a feeling of overall relaxation, increasing blood supply, and bringing organs to an optimal level of functioning. Others say the success of reflexology relates to the “gate control” theory of pain relief, which theorizes that pain is a subjective experience created by an individual’s brain. The notion that factors like mood or stress can also affect the experience of pain enters into play here. Hence, reflexology can reduce pain by relieving stress and anxiety. Though there is no steadfast scientific evidence that reflexology offers an cure for cancers like mesothelioma or any other disease, numerous studies have shown that this complementary therapy improves quality of life for many cancer patients, even if just for a short time, hence, its inclusion in many complementary and palliative care programs at cancer hospitals nationwide. A 2000 study at the School of Nursing at East Carolina University, for example, involved 23 breast and lung cancer patients who noted “a significant decrease” in anxiety with the use of reflexology treatment. This, wrote the professionals that authored the study, “has important implications for nursing practice as both professionals and lay people can be taught reflexology. “Reflexology is a simple technique for human touch which can be performed anywhere, requires no special equipment, is non-invasive and does not interfere with patients' privacy," the study continues. Indeed, many medical professionals have suggested that caregivers for cancer patients take time to learn reflexology so that they can use it when necessary to help those for whom they are caring find relief from the pain and stress associated with the disease. Furthermore, noted study leader Dr. Nancy Stephenson, in the case of those caring for spouses or other family members, “the therapy provides a way for partners to get involved in their loved one's care at a time when they may feel there is nothing they can do to help."
